USD National Music Museum
The renovation and addition provides modernized facilities to house the National Music Museum’s world-class musical instrument collection in a secure, environmentally controlled setting that will provide the museum staff improved working conditions. The addition provides an ADA accessible entrance to the museum and provide more secure storage for the most priceless of instruments. This area also allows for more instruments to be put on display, provide for a rotating exhibition room, a new concert hall with state-of-the-art recording technology, provide for family-friendly areas where instruments can be demonstrated and played by young people. Renovation of the Carnegie building provides for a much-improved heating and cooling environment for the safety of the instruments on display, and allows for new gallery space to open up for new exhibits. The renovation consisted of 28,500 square feet, and then new build will be a total of 3 stories and around 17,000 square feet.
