Ainsworth Benning Construction/A Journey Group Company has been awarded the contract for construction of the new Sturgis Public Works Campus. This takes the place of the existing Public Works shop with the construction of a new $4.45 million 38,000 sf facility. The main building houses the public works administrative offices and includes a 24 bay vehicle storage and shop. In addition to the main building, three structures will be constructed to provide areas for a 6 bay salt storage, 3 bay garbage truck and 6 bay cold storage. The project is United States Department of Agriculture funded and Anne Hazlett the Assistant to the Secretary for Rural Development attending the groundbreaking. Rick Bush the Public Works Director and Tim Potts Local representative for the USDA presided over the ceremony with Dan Ainslie the City Manager for the City of Sturgis, members of the City Council and representatives of the general public also in attendance for this important event. The project design is led by the team of Fennell Design and Co-Op Architects.
