St. Joseph Cathedral

St. Joseph Cathedral

The St Joseph Cathedral Renovation Project started May 2009 and was completed in June of 2011. Total construction value of 16 million dollars.

This project was a complete renovation with the intent of restoring the Cathedral to its original 1919 design. The scope of work included all interior and exterior finishes. Some unique aspects included, liturgical furniture, specialty handcrafted bronze, custom marble sculptures, wood carvings, decorative artistic painting and restoration, plaster work, unique structural elements and uncommon methods of construction.

The project consisted of material and special expertise from around the world. Journey Construction was able to use their experience and expertise to bring together a vision and articulate it through all parties involved.

The construction manager at risk delivery system proved to be a very successful delivery system. If there ever was a test for complete collaboration and transparency this project provided it. The Cathedral renovation project was challenged with continuous fund raising efforts, long lead time and design criteria, quality and originality issues, and constructability. The CM at Risk Delivery system allowed the project team to make clear educated decisions that effected all aspects of the overall intent of the project. The final result was an architectural and artistic aspect that came together at an unprecedented level.
