Deadwood Recreation Center

Deadwood Recreation Center

The Deadwood Recreation and Aquatics Center was a Design/Build renovation and addition to an existing 100 historic Deadwood public meeting facility. The challenge of this project was to maintain the integrity of the existing 8,000 square foot building and adhere to the historic preservation requirements for this historic structure. Our solution included a 12,000 square foot addition with a suspended track around the perimeter, full sized six-lane competition pool, zero entry pool with water features, racquet ball courts and a weight room. The exterior of the project is brick veneer construction complementing the existing structure while maintaining the historical Deadwood image. Great effort was put into designing the addition so the new addition did not overshadow the existing building. The new facility exceeded the needs of the community and surpassed overall expectations of the client. This project was designed with LEED principles in mind, but LEED certification was not pursued.
