Tony has been involved in the construction industry for over 25 years. Self-motivated and charismatic, Tony constantly strives to better himself, people around him, and construction projects he is involved with. Tony knows construction and the Construction Management process. Construction is a fluid and ever-changing process filled with eclectic issues and personnel. Using exceptional communication skills and keen senses of adaptability, Tony channels projects, and team members into their most efficient flow.

Aaron is a project manager specializing in healthcare construction. With the intricate challenges and continual changes in the healthcare industry, his keen attentiveness to detail is one of his strongest attributes. Aaron’s ability to complete projects in the most efficient and cost-effective way benefits not only the owner, but all members of the construction and design team. His exceptional communication skills and perceptiveness earns him respect as team leader in the ever-changing healthcare industry.

Aaron is also participating every year in the Junior Achievement program. Through this, he is having an impact and showing the students what a career in the construction can look like.

Dave Van Nieuwenhuyzen, AIA, is the Director of Business Development for Journey Group. He is a licensed architect in seven states and has experience in both the architectural and construction sides of the industry, having worked for 16 years in Design-Build construction and eight years in architecture. Business Development has been at the core of his career experience.

Dave received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from North Dakota State University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design. He enjoys building relationships based on trust, authenticity, and respect. He also enjoys spending time with family, hanging out at the lake, and traveling. Dave and his wife, Dawn, have three children and live in Sioux Falls.

Eric has 25 years experience in the construction industry. He understands that successful projects come from teamwork and collaboration throughout all phases of construction. Using exceptional communication skills and a keen sense adaptability, Eric channels projects and team members into their most efficient flow. He has most recently has been the project leader on the Avera on Louise hospital and MOB project at 69th & Louise, the largest construction project to date in Sioux Falls. The size and complexity of this project has required a focus on immense planning and subcontractor and supplier communication. Eric’s background and field experience have taught him the importance of paying attention to detail and craftsmanship which ensure that a quality project is delivered. Eric will be the project superintendent orchestrating day to day site activities and team members. The Avera on Louise project and the Sioux Falls New Northwest High School have similar scope elements which will lead to enhanced communication and collaboration of the entire project team. Eric's clients say he is fair, consistent and easy to work with. He has previous school project experience and would be thrilled for the opportunity to work with the Sioux Falls School District and exceed expectations by providing a best value project.

Mark has been involved in the construction industry for over 9 years. During this time he has been exposed to a wide array of construction projects including high-profile medical projects ranging from $10,000 to over $64 million. Mark is a dedicated team player that is willing to do what it takes to make projects successful. Mark’s greatest assets are his work ethic and eagerness to learn from every opportunity presented.

Jesse has been involved in the construction industry for over 8 years. Goal driven and eager to gain knowledge Jesse focuses energies toward getting a job done right the first time. With a military background of leadership, determination, and teamwork, Jesse strives for owner satisfaction throughout the entire construction process.

Jesse is very involved within the community in a number of different programs. These programs range from Junior Achievement, The Backpack Program, The Banquet, and The Avera Cancer Walk.

John instills project leadership through collaboration, proficient communication, and well-developed presentation skills. These skills allow John to build successful long-term relationships with clients, co-workers and other project team members. John is a decisive team leader with extensive experience in estimating, developing project schedules, project management efficiency, and quality control.

Tim has experience with a wide range of projects. He began his career working blue-collar jobs, which gives him a unique ability to understand worker’s needs. His passion to build complex and challenging projects, as he meets and exceeds customers’ expectations, is what drives him. Through all of this, Tim brings an upbeat and positive attitude to his projects. During his free time, Tim enjoys spending time with his family and watching sports.

Throughout the community, Tim's involved in a variety of different organizations. Two of the most prominent organizations he helps out in is, volunteering with Junior Achievement, and the Special Olympics (Polar Plunge).

Chad is a builder – whether it be his clients' dream structure, his talented team, or his own house, Chad builds with a proven track record and a passion for overcoming challenges. Having begun as an electrician in 1996, Chad has assumed various leadership positions across multiple projects including hospitals, event centers, civil structures, and shopping outlets.

When he's not on the job site, Chad enjoys traveling with his wife and exploring the outdoors.

Mohammed Salman has had a passion for buildings ever since he was a kid. He spent his high school summers doing labor work for small contractors in town. When college rolled around, he attended SDSU and majored in Construction Management, minoring in Business and Heavy Highway Estimating. Upon graduating in 2017, he started his first job as a project coordinator. He is certified in OSHA 30 and OSHA 29 CFR 1926.451 Subpart L-5 Hours.

Mohammed is passionate about learning new skills and advancing his knowledge of tools/software used in his position. He also helps clients rework work scope and meet their project budgets. His biggest success includes completing his bachelor’s degree while learning English. In his spare time, he enjoys running and biking, watching sports, and going out with family and friends to new restaurants.

Jared started his career with Journey Group in 1993 while attending South Dakota State University. While earning his engineering degree Jared was learning hands-on with Journey. After graduation, Jared applied his engineering education to solving the challenging logistical and constructability issues that arise on projects. Jared success in completing projects in the field he moved into Project Management and has continued that success. Projects from bridge, foundation, or plant work have all had the same common themes of time sensitive and technically challenging details. Jared is very active in the local AGC of SD HHU Chapter. He has been chairman of the structures committee, elected to the Board of Directors, and severed as Chapter President in 2018.

Josh has served the construction industry for over fifteen years managing projects throughout the Midwest. With diverse project experience from healthcare to roads to underground utilities Josh prides himself on adapting to changing environments and fulfilling client expectations. Josh addresses construction issues head on, minimizes project punch-lists, and eliminates the need for call back warranty work. Josh’s passion and focus is client satisfaction and quality control.

Ryan is the division leader for our Black-Top Paving Division. He has worked in many areas of construction, making him a versatile member of our team. He applies his extensive construction knowledge and performance-oriented management style to all his projects. Ryan and the asphalt division he leads focus on doing quality work in a timely manner from the bidding process to project completion.

Community Involvement is also very important to Ryan. He is involved in a number of different organizations throughout the community. These organizations range from AGC of South Dakota, Sioux Falls contractors Association, United way, St. Katherine Drexel, and finally being a strong volunteer for Junior Achievement.

Brad has been an asset to Journey Group and the Asphalt Paving Industry for over five years. He has done it all. From a laberer at the end of a shovel to project management, Brad is SDDOT certified for both asphalt and aggregate testing. He provides clients with timely and accurate estimates as well as quality projects. Brad's focus is client satifaction with every project delivered.

Brad is very involved in the community. A few of the organizations he volunteers his time with is Citizen's Advisory Committee, the Sioux Falls Contractors Ass., AGC of South Dakota, and the Sioux Falls Young Professionals Network.
