This project consisted of a three story 113 unit independent living center, a 67 unit assisted living center, and a 14 unit memory care center all connected by a main street of resident support services including dining, health and wellness, banking, salon, chapel, and community banquet space.
The independent living section of this project includes underground parking garage and storage units that are 14’ below the surrounding water table and blasted out of Sioux Falls famous quartzite stone. Tenants have the choice of five different floor plans custom finished to fit their needs. Assisted living tenants have the option between four separate single story unit styles that are conveniently located adjacent to community support services. Memory care tenants are provided a secure, tranquil, and stable environment including specialized activities and an enclosed memory garden. The entire Dow Rummel retirement community is connected by a warm and welcoming main street that allows patrons the comfort and convenience of a luxurious community lifestyle with the security of a monitored community.
Construction Manager and General Contractor delivery system provided Dow Rummel a construction professional from inception to completion that was able to self perform various activities which enhanced savings in cost and schedule.
The Journey Construction Team brought collaboration, technical expertise, scheduling, project coordination, and most of all a construction professional and team member that was counted on throughout the entire design and construction process. The Journey Construction Team was part of the Dow Rummel Community and instrumental in the coordination of construction activities with the day to day activities of an operational retirement community.
